Today’s ‘Ordinary Day’ was a weekend long event, and one that I enjoyed just as much as I gave…But I guess that would be true of all these days so far… 😉

Kev and I volunteered for a weekend long environmental film festival hosted by our local river action league, ’SYRCL’… A group of people that fight tirelessly to protect and save the natural ecosystems of our local watersheds; and every January marks the most major fundraiser for this dedicated non-profit.  The festivities are an incredible cocktail of community gathering together…with over 100 indie films, workshops and panel discussions, pedal powered street bands, a salmon parade, and whole heap load of inspiration and education around every corner…

We were doing our small part as two of over 500 volunteers that make the festival unfold.  And surely in that we were lighting the web in some way.  The success of the weekend unfolding let’s you know that your presence has an impact on it all… But I wondered all weekend if  there would be a moment that I could connect with one soul and see that sparkle in their day because of my being there.  Sure there were many small moments that I think I made someones weekend even better…but nothing that major…Hmm, the first time so far in the project that my attempt to invoke a sparkle was spread across waters that cannot articulate an individually tangible effect.  Is it any less valuable?  Absolutely not!!! I just observe how it feels different to be giving to the “masses” as it were, instead of one single heart… I am realizing that the opportunities that I have to connect with total strangers in an intimate way is a part of what I have loved in this project so far.  And now I have fallen in love with being lost in the crowd of a whole bunch of web igniters….SO amazing indeed…
