About me: Hmmmm, this is a lot harder than writing about the project!  🙂 But people have asked…who are you? Well, that’s a loooong story for most of us, eh?  But as I’ve said before, I’m just a pretty ordinary girl living a pretty ordinary life in a lot of ways…

I grew up in upstate New York with my two amazing brothers and beloved parents; spending my time climbing trees and playing on my grandmother’s dairy farm.  I always had the itchy foot thing though…a deep yearning existed in my soul, to see what else lay beyond what I grew up knowing.  That yearning has taken me through multiple continents and countries around the world, and finally across the mountains and deserts of our own lands to where I now call ‘home’, northern California.  I am very close with my family back east though, and miss them every day….Why did I leave the sweetness of fall apples and spring flowers nestled amongst a family I love?  Well…There’s a lot of good reasons to be on the gorgeous northwest coast…but for me, it was the mighty spirit of the Redwood trees that called me west, I know hard to relate for some…I’ve gotten more than once the “seriously? you’re telling me some tree spirits made you pack up your life and move 3,000 miles away?”….yup…Their majick permeates my being, and I spent many years learning and growing among their wise roots.  It was there that this this projects vision was originally born, where I explored my creative expression as an artist in the very ‘official’ context of college, and where I fell in love with my sweetie-soul-mate…But because life has her way of moving us on I live a bit inland now, with my husband  (same sweetie-soulmate 😉 )and four legged ‘kids’, in the gorgeous foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a sweet little town called Grass Valley (always though with one toe touched down in the sacred woods of the coast)…

In my free time I continue to explore my art, working mostly with mixed media sculptures and textiles.  I’m dabbling in helping others to find healing through art, and don’t doubt that some of my “Ordinary Days” will be surrounding that…. I find my soul smiles also in a special way playing outside, so we’re doing things like cross country skiing in the winter or backpacking in the warm months.  I believe in faeries…yes, it’s true…And in majick of so many forms…and I believe that no matter how old you are, you can always laugh with your inner child.   I am an herbalist, and a lover of all things plant kingdom, so I spend as much time with my feet bare and my hands in the earth.  Professionally, I am an Ayurvedic Practitioner, and on the teaching faculty at the California College of Ayurveda, where I am blessed to love my job and the people I work with.   Women’s health and herbalism are my main passions in my practice.   I like ‘old’ things, and you’ll find me at an antique store much faster than if you go wandering in Walmart.  I’m always up for a good adventure, and there isn’t much I won’t try at least once.  I love to cook, and if I could, might eat sushi almost every day….Except for most recently I’ve started a fairly dangerous love affair with savory crepes.yum…Sustainable living and local agriculture are important to me, as is frequently howling at the full moon.  I have loved to dance for as long as my feet could move (of course like no one is watching!) and recently have expanded this into learning the beautiful art of belly dance…It’s been amazingly therapeutic so far, and we’ll see where it goes…And touched by its beautiful vibration, I have been teaching myself how to play the native american flute for awhile too…for now, I mostly play for small parties which consist of my husband, my cat and the plants…I do think they enjoy it at least, especially the plants… 😉 Speaking of music, I love bluegrass and big band/swing on a lazy sunday afternoon, and to go with it?  I prefer  a fine slice of pie over cake any day…and definitely with home made ice cream….So, that’s me in walnut shell…lOrdinary Days Profile Picike I said, I’m a pretty ordinary girl… right?
